Black Against White
In a modern context, the line between "white magic" and "black magic" is clearer than the shadier practices of the past. The human body, in both alchemy and anatomy, is seen as an object of study whithin whose context emotions are irrelevant.

White magic is supposedly utilized only for good or unselfish purposes, and black magic, we are told, is used only for selfish or "evil" reasons; As Lavey himself puts it, the magician should have the ability to decide what is just, and then apply the powers of magic to attain his goals.
The essence of magic is one of the banal, the carnal and the flesh, values that belong closer to the essence of the human being as opposed to the loftier moral ideals of the religions of light. But the ultimate purpose of magic is one of immortality, whose very notion is most insulting of divinity. Despite the fear of God, magic exists to perhaps throw humans into that same magic dimension and therefore be God.
